AMERICAN VS DECIMAL VS FRACTIONAL
ODDS EXPLAINED

Different sportsbooks display odds differently. If you're used to American odds (-110, +150) from DraftKings, Latin American sportsbooks might confuse you with decimal odds (1.91, 2.50). Here's how each format works.

AMERICAN ODDS (+/-)

How It Works

Negative (-) = How much to bet to win $100

Positive (+) = How much you win on a $100 bet

-150: Bet $150 to win $100 (profit)
+150: Bet $100 to win $150 (profit)

Used by: US sportsbooks (DraftKings, FanDuel, etc.)

DECIMAL ODDS (1.50, 2.50)

How It Works

Multiply your stake by the odds to get total return (includes original stake)

Odds: 2.50
Stake: $100
Total Return: $100 × 2.50 = $250
Profit: $250 - $100 = $150

Used by: Most Latin American sportsbooks (Betsson, bet365, Stake, Codere)

FRACTIONAL ODDS (3/1, 1/2)

How It Works

The fraction shows profit relative to stake (profit/stake)

3/1: Win $3 for every $1 bet
1/2: Win $1 for every $2 bet

Used by: UK bookmakers (rarely used in Latin America)
